About Chitika:
Chitika is an alternative to the almighty Google Adsense. When you sign up to Chitika (which is 100% free of course) you will be able to put advertisement on your blog in different shape and size, just like you can with Google Adsense. You might ask “I already have Google Adsense why should I bother with more ad companies?” and here is my answer. Google Adsense is the best paying ad company out there, but you will need to earn 100 dollars before they will pay you. Chitika has a much lower payout which allows you to get your money when you reach 10 dollars. Another thing is that I personally don’t think it’s a good idea to be dependant of just 1 ad company. Just imagine if you were using only 1 company and they broke down or they downright refused to pay for some reason. So using a couple of different ad companies might not be a bad idea. Google Adsense doesn’t allow all ad companies, but according to Chitika they can be shown on the same page since Chitika ads aren’t contextual and do not look like AdSense units!
Pros:
- Free and legitimate site!
- Low $10 payout (To compare Google for example demands a $100 payout)
- People from all countries can join and earn as long as their site is in English!
- It’s a solid company – Chitika has been around for 7 years!
- You can get paid through Paypal.
Cons:
- The ads are only targeted to US and Canadian readers.
- Cost per click can fluctuate from day to day.
Conclusion:
Chitika is a pretty good alternative to Google Adsense. It has a much lower payout and is quite easy to use. At the moment I prefer Bidvertiser over this site, but there is no particular reason for this, I guess I just prefer Bidvertisers layout. All in all they’re 2 pretty even companies. It all comes down to preference. Chitika is free and I recommend that you try and see if it is something for you. It would certainly be a good idea if you only have one ad company displaying ads on your site or none at all! If you change your mind you can always remove Chitika again, so why not give it a go?
